Mr. Johnson is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EsqWealth, a registered investment advisor firm. He is also a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® professional. The CPWA® certification is an advanced education and certification program for financial advisors who work with high-net-worth clients on the life-cycle of wealth: accumulation, preservation, and distribution. Mr. Johnson achieved this certification after completing Yale School of Management’s CPWA® curriculum and passing a four-hour stringent exam covering over 500 topics. The curriculum includes a series of sophisticated financial advisor courses presented by leading Yale faculty and industry experts covering the most advanced knowledge and techniques to address the complex needs of high-net-worth clients with a minimum net worth of $5 million. To maintain his certification, Mr. Johnson must comply with a heightened Code of Professional Responsibility administered by the Investments & Wealth Institute®. He must also stay updated on industry trends, laws, and products and complete 40 hours of continuing education every two years, including two hours of ethics education.
Mr. Johnson is also a practicing trial attorney and has been licensed with the State Bar of California since 1994. For several years, he has received awards and peer recognition from a number of organizations including an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, awarded to only those lawyers with the highest ethical standards and professional ability, and inclusion in Super Lawyers, a recognition reserved for the top 5% of attorneys who have obtained a high-level of professional achievement and are highly regarded by their peers. He is the Co-Founding and Managing Partner of Johnson Fistel and for the last eighteen years his law firm has focused on prosecuting securities fraud cases throughout the country. Mr. Johnson received his Juris Doctor degree from Washington University School of Law in 1994, where he was in the top 10% of his class while in attendance. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from San Diego State University in 1990, where he graduated second in his class major, with honors and summa cum laude.
